Beach Bums

We love the beach! Every year we take a day trip from early dawn to dark and wear ourselves out with the boardwalk, sand, sights, and plenty of water time! It is "our place", where we go to rejuvenate and create happy memories. I often look back at these times during my times of stress, and it helps me to get through whatever difficulty I am facing at that moment. There is something about the sea, sun, and sand - a perfect combination.

Hey Hey We're the Monkeys

And people say we monkey around! :)

Like most kids I imagine, mine love their playground time! We've had lots of park and picnic adventures, and it's a great way to get our energy out while enjoying nature and reaping the benefits of fresh air. I find that they are more focused at home when they've had ample time to play outside. I find that I am more patient and fun-loving when I've been out horsing around with them too.

Peekaboo Paparazzi

Peekaboo! This picture was snapped at our local playground, and was selected to be featured in a parenting magazine. Exciting!

Cooking Projects

My little ones crave "their" one on one time with Mommy. It's hard sometimes to find special time in today's fast-paced world, but one way we find our connection at home is that of helper. Each child has a special job for the evening, and the job rotates to avoid monotony and for each child to have a chance to shine in a particular area. Hands down the favorite is the cooking helper. Whether it's Jello, Mac n Cheese, Spaghettios or a pie, they love to be the one to stir, measure, pour, and create. "Look what I made!" Best of all, they love serving and watching others enjoy the dish they helped prepare.

Halloweenie Family Fun

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays! We dressed up as a group, which others have dubbed the "Power Pack." We received rave reviews from friends, family, and neighbors. We even placed third in a costume contest :)

A Dog's Tale

Meet Duke. He's been with us for over a decade. Rescued him from the shelter one bright sunny day - out of the blue. We didn't know we'd be bringing home one dappy dozy dog, or that he'd be such a special part of the family for years to come. This dog has seen the family at its best and worst. He's been patient, protective, and there through it all. Four generations now, he can count them on his paws. We love him. And he is most definitely one of us.

Soccer Mom

Teresa is wrapping up her soccer season with just as much enthusiasm and spirit as she started. She's tried her hand at goalie this season and has been playing half of the game as offense and half as goalie. We were all very proud of her for stepping up to the plate...er...goal, especially since this position is so high-pressure. Kari Anne and Jeremy have been so patient with every Saturday morning games, and we have this ritual of spreading out on a fuzzy purple blankie with snacks and shades, while we take in the view from the sidelines. Sometimes they'll ride their scooters on the trail behind the field, but most of the time we are all cuddled up together spectating, commentating, and chowing down!

Once Upon a Time....

That's how all great stories begin, right? I'm hoping that this journey into the amazing world of blogosphere will help us capture our precious memories in this fast-paced era in which we live. One day we'll look back and be so thankful that we did this. Here's to us and our adventures!

Meet the kiddoes. Teresa is 11, Kari Anne is 8, and Jeremy is 6. A truly terrific trio, of course they have their moments, but who doesn't? ;o)
